Last Chance for Donations

The Rapture is to occur on May 21, 2011 according to the few who profess to be in the know. Please be aware that no earthly goods will be traveling with you. We here at Amarjah Wisdom School will be glad to accept donations as we suspect that our names are not on the "predestination" list to be lifted up.

The Rapture is a reference to 1Thessalonians 4:15-17 when Christians will be gathered together in the air to meet Christ. Paul cites "the word of the Lord".

...and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be raptured (or "caught up") together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.

So, my Jewish friend of NYC calls me this morning to find out what that means for the Jews?

"And what about us Jews as the chosen people?"

I told him that Paul changed all that when he opened up the teachings of Jesus to non-jews - make that the Gentiles and others.

"What are we Jews to do then?"

"Open up the shops on Sunday to sell the worldly goods back to the ones left behind."

We have a long and teasing relationship and no disrespect was meant on either part. We simply try to understand our different beliefs.

"Ok, but is there anything I can do to get raptured?"

"Nope, either your name is ON the list or not. Nada, nothing."

He laughed. And then he asked, "What happens after that?"

"Well those left behind protest that it was a miscalculation of the date and set another date OR they party until the end of the world in October. Oh, and join in the looting."

"In the meantime, then, I can take over that oceanfront house with the cigarette boat at the dock," he laughed.

Stephan Hawking proclaimed there is no heaven. Where do these people think they are going. Are pets allowed? What if someone's name is on the list and they are a disbeliever? What if I get to go and a more pious person does not? Is life fair? Is there a rapture? We'll find out tomorrow.
