Stone Soup
And the rhythm continues...
Collaboration
Wearied travelers arrive at a village at day's end, carrying nothing more than an empty cooking pot. Glares of suspicion met them by the locals. No one was willing to share any of their food stores with the hungry travelers.
Undaunted, the travelers fill the pot with water, drop a large stone in it, and place it over a fire in the village square.
One of the villagers becomes curious and asks what the monk are doing. He answers:
The villager looks warily around. Then reaching into his produce basket, the villager hands him just a little bit of carrot to help them out.
The monk adds the carrot to the soup.
Another villager walks by, inquires about the pot, and the travelers again mention their stone soup which has not reached its full potential yet. The villager hands them a little bit of salt to help them out.
More and more villagers walk by, each adding their own special ingredient.
Finally, a delicious and nourishing pot of soup is enjoyed by all.
